James Maury Henson (born September 24, 1936; Greenville, Mississippi – died May 16, 1990; Manhattan, New York) was American puppeteer, animator,[2] cartoonist, voice actor, inventor, filmmaker, and screenwriter who was well known as the creator of the iconic Muppets (since 1955) and the kids’ puppet show Fraggle Rock (1983–1987).
