Randy “Randall” Boggs is the main antagonist of Monsters, Inc., and a major antagonist in its 2013 prequel Monsters University. He is voiced by Steve Buscemi. Snide and vindictive, Randall is infamously jealous of Sulley, Monstropolis’ best scarer. To make his mark on the earth while stealing Sulley's spotlight at the same time, Randall plans to "revolutionize" the industry of scaring by using harmful means that involves capturing human kids.

Bad Qualities[]

  1. He wants to "revolutionize" the scaring industry, even if it means kidnapping kids (with Waternoose as his partner-in-crime).
  2. He is a selfish jerk who doesn't care about a lot of people except for himself.
  3. Judging by his intentions to capture children for their screams (and possibly never return them), he is probably willing to severely harm little children (or worse).
  4. He treats his assistant Fungus like garbage.
  5. His scream-extracting machine might kill children and/or monsters by taking out their breath. At least two victims (Mike and Boo) survived miraculously.
  6. He enjoys trying to physically harm his enemies, just for fun, including Sulley himself.
  7. He is willing to do what it takes to break the all time scaring record, even if it means cheating.
  8. All because of him, Waternoose was forced into banishing Mike and Sulley to the Himalayas, and he didn’t even show any remorse for it whatsoever.
  9. His infamous line: "Even the great James P. Sullivan is gonna be working for me" after having held Mike captive.
  10. He showed no sympathy for Mike when he had a difficult time trying to find a member who could be sixth for his team when he entered the Scare Games.

Good Qualities[]

  1. Steve Buscemi does a great job voicing him.
  2. His design is actually real nice to look at.
  3. He can be a decently funny character at times, at least for a bad guy.
  4. At least he had a softer side in Monsters University.
  5. He may be unlikable, but that’s the point of his character, because he’s the bad guy.
  6. He got what he deserved by getting beaten up by hillbillies. Serves him right to be called a "gator" for his horrible actions!
