Super Mario Bros. is a 1993 fantasy comedy film directed by Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel, produced by Disney’s Hollywood Pictures, and released by Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, which is loosely based on the famous, awesome game of 1985. It stars Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper, Samantha Mathis, Fisher Stevens, Fiona Shaw, and Richard Edson. It follows the Mario brothers (Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo), who set out to save Princess Daisy (Samantha Mathis) from a dystopic world ruled by the ruthless President Koloa (Dennis Hopper).

Critical reaction

The movie was very badly-recieved, as it received a 21% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, who praised the acting, special effects, and creative artistic direction, but heavily criticized the confusing story and unstable tone. I also hated the film, feeling that it was not very faithful to the source material, with other problems being the plot, dialogue, and decision to market the movie against kids, with only one out of ten stars, and preferring to play the video games the movie was based on, and watch Pokémon Detective Pikachu, which was way more faithful to the source material and had a much better story.
